James L. Netters Scholarship Mission

The mission of the James L. Netters Sr. Scholarship Ministry is to encourage, promote and support the post-secondary educational pursuits and goals of deserving individuals of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church – Westwood.

Eligibility Requirements

All applicants must currently be:

  1. A member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church – Westwood
  2. Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution (i.e., college/university, community college, career college, technical school, etc.)
  3. High school applicants/GED recipients must have received an acceptance letter from a post-secondary institution.
  4. All applicants must maintain at least a 2.50 academic GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Application Materials

First Year Student:

  1. Completed JLNetters Scholarship Application
  2. Official copy of high school transcript or GED
  3. Official copy of Acceptance Letter from an accredited post-secondary institution. (If you do not have an Acceptance Letter, please provide official documentation that you are enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution.)
  4. One (1) Letter of Recommendation detailing academic and/or community service. (Principal, Guidance Counselor, Teacher, Pastor, Volunteer Coordinator, Community Leader, etc.)

Returning Students:

  1. Completed JLNetters Scholarship Application
  2. College/Technical School transcript

Deadline: There is no deadline currently due to the COVID Pandemic.

SUNDAY afternoons – Voice of Hope radio broadcast at 4:00pm on WLOK Radio, FM 104.9 / AM 1340
