Care Ministry

Birth Month Fellowship Ministry
The Birth Month Fellowship Ministry is designed to embrace and include every member of the Mount Vernon Baptist Church family.  Each member is placed in a group according to his/her birth month. The birth month ministry provides care on a more personal basis as well as communicate church information.

Culinary Kitchen Ministry
The Culinary Kitchen Ministry offers food service for the church, including repasts, conferences and approved special events.

Health Awareness Ministry
The Health Awareness Ministry serves the church and community by providing health education programs, resource materials, screenings and healthcare literature.

Human Resources Ministry
The Human Resource Ministry serves to equip, train, screen, and refer applicants for positions of employment with outside agencies. We assess job skills, match applicants with job vacancies, assist with resume writing, and conduct job readiness workshops.

Missionary Circles
The Missionary Circles aim to care for the practical and spiritual needs of people by displaying God’s love in the Church, local communities, and around the world.  Our Circles comprise of the following groups:

  • Leona Netters Circle
  • Lucille Greene Circle
  • Lydia Circle
  • Red Circle
  • Ruth Circle
  • Sunshine Band Circle

Mother’s Board
The Mother’s Board exists to set a Christian example of love, faith, perseverance, and wisdom while encouraging the congregation to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct that brings glory to God.

Prayer Ministry
The Prayer Ministry exists to pray for the church, city, nation, world,  and individuals that request prayer.The prayer ministry also provides training  for those interested in prayer ministry.

James L. Netters Scholarship Ministry
The J.L. Netters / Bessie Ball Netters Scholarship Ministry exists to encourage students to continue in their Christian dedication while pursuing their academic goals.  The Ministry also helps students to better prepare themselves for college through seminars, workshops and monetary awards.

Security Ministry
The Security ministry exists to provide a safe environment for everyone on the campus of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church-Westwood.

Transportation Ministry
The Transportation Ministry aims to provide transportation for members and non-members to and from church.  To request transportation, please call the Church Office at 901-785-1612.

Westwood Manor Elderly Cottages
Westwood Manor Elderly Cottages is a quiet and peaceful community located in the Westwood area of Memphis across from Westwood High School. It is owned by Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and is reserved for seniors at least 55 years and older. All units are on one level and have all the modern conveniences of independent living, including all major appliances and on-site laundry facilities.
